Bowl gouge vs spindle gouge. Bowl gouges are mainly used for making a wood bowl. I had one heck of a time catches every time i stuck the tool into the wood. A bowl gouge is bulkier than a spindle gouge. A spindle gouge is able to cut an inward dovetail angle easily which is impossible to do with a bowl gouge.

Another great advantage of spindle gouge over bowl gouge is that it doesn t require to be sharpened as frequently as a bowl gouge. So it is not ideal for detailed works and tight spaces. Its not a tool i use alot but it works very well. I knew enough to not stick that little skinny tool into the spinning wood so i tried the other gouges.
